Amelia County Public Schools 2019-2020 Instructional Calendar - DRAFT

Your feedback is welcomed and appreciated
During the November 12, 2018 Amelia County School Board meeting,  Dr. Smith, Division Interim Superintendent, shared a draft of the proposed ACPS 2019-2020 instructional calendar with the school board.  Dr. Smith and members of the school board are interested in receiving input and feedback from ACPS teachers and staff, parents, and community stakeholders.  We ask that you please review the draft of the proposed ACPS 2019-2020 instructional calendar  and complete a brief four question survey.  Common themes and significant statements gathered from the survey results will be shared with Dr. Smith and the school board, which may result in further revisions to the proposed ACPS 2019-2020 instructional calendar.
Here are a few important highlights regarding the proposed ACPS 2019-2020 instructional calendar:
* Adds two teacher workdays prior to the start of school for professional development, instructional planning, and vertical alignment in lieu of having professional development days later in the school year
* 1st day of school would occur on a Wednesday as opposed to a traditional Monday
* School calendar mirrors previous calendar years with regards to the beginning and the end of the school year
* 1st semester will end prior to Winter Break, similar to previous years
* Possible snow/weather related make-up days are announced in advance
* Spring Break occurs near the traditional Easter holiday similar to previous years
* ACHS Graduation date is set and placed on the calendar
Please take a few minutes to complete the following brief four question survey regarding the proposed ACPS 2019-2020 instructional calendar.  Your input is valued and appreciated.  Thank you for your continued support of Amelia County Public Schools.
