A Message From Dr. McKinley Regarding "Coffee, Cookies, and Conversation"

I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the students, staff, teachers, and community members that have participated in the "Coffee, Cookies, and Conversation" open house meetings at the James Hamner Library on the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Your input has helped us to always improve instructional outcomes for our students. At these meetings I ask two guiding questions: 1) "What are we doing well at ACPS?" and 2) "What can we do to improve?" We will not hold these meetings over the summertime. Our next meeting will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the James Hamner Library.

Statement of Amelia County School Board

There has been some misinformation circulating in the community regarding the finances of the school system. The Amelia County School Board received an annual lump sum appropriation from the Board of Supervisors for the current fiscal year. The School Board has not overspent that appropriation, nor do we anticipate overspending that appropriation. We have made some spending cuts recently in response to concerns raised by County staff regarding cash flow, but there has been no over expenditure of the School Board’s appropriation. The School Board and Dr. McKinley look forward to continuing to work with the County to provide a high quality education to the students of Amelia County.

Coffee Cup Coffee, Cookies, and Conversation with Superintendent, Jack McKinley
A message from Jack McKinley:
I want to remind our school community that on the first Thursday of every month I hold an open house meet and greet session at the James Hamner library from 7 PM to 8 PM called Coffee, Cookies, and Conversation. This is an open house style meeting and is open to any members of our community. During this time, I like to ask visitors the following questions, “What are we doing well in our schools?” and “What can we do to improve?”. Feel free to stop by the James Hamner library on any first Thursday of the month. We are always looking for ways to improve our school system. We are doing great things and we look forward to even more.
